Edelman writes Belichick after Patriots' final game rumors

After losing 17-3 to the New York Jets on Sunday in Foxborough, Massachusetts, Bill Belichick and the Patriots exited the field, perhaps ending an era.

Sunday's defeat may have been Belichick's last game as a Patriot after reports that he would leave following a 4-13 season.

Belichick helped Julian Edelman, who played 12 years in New England, succeed. Edelman was named Super Bowl MVP after helping Belichick and the Patriots win three Super Bowls with 6,822 yards on 620 catches and 36 touchdowns.

Edelman thanked Belichick on X after Sunday's game. “If that's the end. Coach, that run was wicked. Sunday on X, Edelman declared

Edelman has maintained his good views of Belichick for years, despite New England's failures. He considers Belichick the greatest coach ever, but he knows it's a business.

In a recent WCVB interview, Edelman said he merely wants this difficult matter handled properly. New England won six Super Bowls under Belichick, second only to Don Shula in all-time wins.

Special teamer Matthew Slater may have played his last Patriots game on Sunday.

After Sunday's defeat, the Patriots are slated to choose third in the 2024 NFL Draft. The remaining league games on Sunday will determine the final placement.
